My family supported me 100% on my decision to study science and then to do a PhD.
I became really close friends with the other people in my college course who also went on to do PhDs in the same university, so we always had each other for support, we would meet for lunch and help each other out and it was really great. I got allot of support from the other members of my research group and my PhD supervisor also.
My girlfriend also supported me massively in the final year of my PhD when I was spending long hours in the lab, or writing my thesis or just generally being a grump because of the stress!
