      The hips that are implanted in theatre are made up of a number of different parts: they are modular. There is a stem that is fitted into the femur, a shell into the acetabulum, a liner into that shell and a ball on to the stem – 4 different parts. We print just the shell so far. The amount of time that is takes is economically viable when compared with the traditional way to make a part that may not have as much functionality.
