After not enjoying working in industry. As a chemist my options would be industry or coming back to do the PhD and becoming a scientist, so I chose the latter.

I was in transition year when I discovered what I wanted to do in college and that I wanted to become a scientist!
I did a week long course in Trinity college where they told us about science, physics and nanomaterials and I loved it, I got really inspired about the future and how I might be able to help discover new materials or help develop new technologies!

I really recommend doing some work experience in transition year in the job you’re interested in! You might find out that its totally what you want to do, or it might be a slightly different experience to what you thought!
