      It depends on the data. I tend to be as accurate as is possible. If I am measuring dimensions, I will want to take it to as many decimal places as possible.
      As a scientist, I will deal with facts and look for data to make decisions. The more accurate the data, the better the decision. 1.0000006mm though, is sometimes not needed. then I will use 1mm and that is accurate enough
